Reiki – The Usui System of Natural Healing
Reiki is the Universal Life Force that flows through us. We are all born with this energy – it is the energy of Life itself. A Reiki initiation opens the healing channel within us and helps us channel and focus this very natural healing energy. Reiki practitioners channel energy to themselves and others through the “laying on of hands”.
How Reiki is Used
Reiki energy is pulled through the body of the practitioner at a rate that matches the needs of the person receiving the energy. Reiki energy can pass through clothing, blankets, chairs, and even walls.
This Universal Life Force energy is actually the healer – the practitioner who offers Reiki is simply a channel for this Life Force.
The Reiki practitioner is replenished by the process of channeling Reiki energy and is fully protected against picking up another person’s pain or ailment.
Reiki and the Physical Body
Reiki helps to rebalance the body, relieving physical and emotional distress.
Pain and acute problems often respond quite rapidly; chronic illnesses may take longer, depending on the type of ailment, its duration and the frequency of the Reiki transmissions. Reiki goes to the source of the physical symptoms, fills the vibrational or energy need, and works to restore the body to wholeness. Relaxation and stress reduction are usually experienced as immediate byproducts of a Reiki session.
Reiki and Spiritual Growth
Reiki also acts as an impetus to spiritual growth, opening us to heal on all levels of our being.
After a Reiki initiation, our focal points and priorities of living are subtly altered. We find that the happenings of life lead us to the places and people that promote inner growth. More and more, we find a quiet honesty about our actions and our lifestyles.
How Is Reiki Learned?
Reiki is learned from a Reiki master during a Reiki initiation.
The only prerequisites for learning Reiki are openness, a desire to learn and a commitment to use Reiki in your life.
You begin by receiving a Reiki Level 1 initiation. As part of the initiation, you learn the history of Reiki and the standard positions for transmitting Reiki energy. If you wish, you can go on to receive a Reiki Level 2 initiation, in which you learn to send distance healing. The final step of Reiki initiation is that of becoming a Reiki master.
Reiki in My Life
In 1981, I was given the gift of a Reiki Level 1 initiation. To my surprise, it coincided with a major shift in my life’s direction. Not only did I become a channel for Reiki healing energy, I also began to channel information, primarily through the medium of automatic writing. A whole new world of energy, intuitive knowing, inner guidance and connection made its way into my awareness. What a gift!
I explored, shared and healed in this new world as I experienced the guiding power of “higher self” dimensions and learned to surrender to my “higher goodness”. I recognized the path of healing and spiritual integration as my purpose in life.
Since then, each Reiki initiation I have received has coincided with a major shift in my life. I have seldom planned to receive these initiations. Instead, I usually sense that it is time, or an unmistakable opportunity arises. Once I have taken the step, I find I have graduated to the next stage of my spiritual development using Reiki as my attunement system.
I use Reiki primarily to facilitate my spiritual opening and activation. The channeling work I do as a spiritual counsellor/light worker/soul revealer was born from Reiki energy and is one within it.
I also use Reiki as a “laying on of hands” healing method, transmitting Reiki energy to myself and others. However, this use of the Reiki energy is secondary to that of my own growth.
I am now a Reiki master or teacher. This level of Reiki brings me the privilege of teaching Reiki and sharing it with others as a natural healing system, channeling Universal Life Force energy. During this process, I trust the Reiki energy to do its work with each participant as it has done and continues to do with me.
I invite you to receive a Reiki initiation and to find out for yourself what Reiki can mean in your life.
